David Suzuki, scientist, broadcaster, author, activist. and a founder of the David Suzuki Foundation, has some thoughtful words to say about Stung and about the wilful blindness we as a species suffer over the global climate crisis:

"The great boast of our species is that we are intelligent yet we seem unable to deal with the facts of environmental degradation. Bill Deverell’s Stung provides a powerful insight into why. Read this book and find out!"

In an email to me, he continued:

"Testosterone, lust, vested interest, drugs, profit, power, and even lawyers, judges and the legal system itself constrain and bias our decisions and actions."

Incidentally, David, who I am proud to have known as a friend of many years, also appears as a character in the novel, as MC of a rally to end the agro-chemical giants' mass extermination of pollinating insects.

Like many of our age, his eyesight is not what it used to be (though his insights remain as strong as ever), thus the lens in the photo above through which he is reading.
