Beauchamp is back…

For all those who begged and cajoled, Arthur Beauchamp (The Dance of Shiva, Trial of Passion) returns to the pages in this fall’s 408-page hardcover, April Fool (McClelland & Stewart). Below is a sample early chapter…

But first, let me congraulate Joanna Vander Vlugt, winner of the fan-letter contest. On its way to you, Joanna, an advance copy of April Fool.

Blame it on the earthquake…

Yes, that’s the reason this contest is taking so long to reach the end game. My winter home in Costa Rica almost went down the hill a few months ago, a 6.3 blast from the gods of the underworld. So the deadline has been extended to June 21 (Day of the Solstice) from April 1 (Day of the Fool). And remember, the winner of the cleverest-fan-letter contest will have mailed to her/him an advance copy of my first sequel novel: April Fool, due in October from McClelland & Stewart, and starring Arthur Beauchamp from Trial of Passion…

Culled from the latest batch of letters, all 2005, are the following, (deleting personal references, or those which give away the plot) with, in some cases, my responses. (And by the way, I reply to all fan letters: more than a courtesy, a pleasurable duty to those who take the pains to write me.)
